Tips for Better Pay
Use your employer’s overtime rules.
Check when each shift differential applies.
Include only unpaid breaks.
Verify estimates against your pay statement.
How Your Result Is Calculated
Hours first. Then the pay rules.
Paid hours are elapsed shift hours minus unpaid breaks. An earlier end time crosses midnight once. Regular hours plus overtime hours equal paid hours. Overtime hours are the larger of daily excess and weekly excess. Differentals apply to the entire row, and optional overtime stacking uses their weighted hourly average. This model excludes double-time and complex payroll contracts.
